CFAI International Accreditation

June 14th, 2021 – Mandeville Fire/EMS, St. Tammany Fire District No. 4 is Awarded International Accredited Status

St. Tammany Fire District No. 4 (District 4) Mandeville Fire/EMS received Accredited Agency status with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) for meeting the criteria established through the CFAI’s voluntary self-assessment and accreditation program. District 4 is one of more than 250 agencies to achieve Internationally Accredited Agency status with the CFAI and the Center for Public Safety Excellence, Inc. (CPSE)

District 4 joins St. Tammany Fire District 1, serving the Slidell area, as the only two accredited nonDepartment of Defense (DoD) agencies in Louisiana. District 4 has the distinction of being the only Property Insurance Association of Louisiana (PIAL) Class 1 rated and internationally accredited agency in Louisiana and only 1 of 104 in the U.S.

CFAI is dedicated to assisting the fire and emergency service agencies throughout the world in achieving excellence through self-assessment and accreditation in order to provide continuous quality improvement and the enhancement of service delivery to their communities. The CFAI process is voluntary, and provides an agency with an improvement model to assess their service delivery and performance internally and then works with a team of peers from other agencies to evaluate their completed self-assessment.

The members of District 4 have much to be proud of; less than 1% of all fire departments are Class 1 and Accredited. It is through the hard work and dedication of the members of District 4 that this was achieved. To learn more about Accreditation please visit https://www.cpse.org/.
